Laser Hair Removal: Pre-Treatment Tips
Stop all other hair removal methods for a few months such as waxing, tweezing, threading or using an epilator.
Avoid all forms of tanning (including self tanning products) at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. While laser hair removal is safe for all skin tones, having your skin at its base color will give you the best and safest results.
STOP using Accutane and immunosuppressants 6 months prior to your date of treatment.
2 weeks prior avoid use of any antibiotics, Retinol, Retin-A or blood thinning medications.
Avoid using any type of skincare topical creams that promote exfoliation of the skin 2 weeks prior to treatment.
Please shave the areas to be treated 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. Make sure the areas are shaved properly for best results.
DO NOT shave your face (women only)
Refrain from using any lotions, creams, deodorants or make-up. If you do need to wear make-up your provider will provide a make-up remover before your treatment.
Laser Hair Removal: Aftercare Tips
The first 24-48 hours your skin will be very sensitive.
Refrain from any sun exposure in the treated areas for at least the following 2 weeks. Exposure to the sun can cause skin damage.
Avoid sweating, intense exercise, deodorant use or applying lotion with fragrances.
Avoid jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms, or hot showers first 24-48 hours.
It’s recommended to use aloe vera to soothe the area. In some cases your provider might recommend anti-inflammatory cream.
Avoid any other harsh or exfoliating treatments to the treated areas in the 2 weeks following which can cause skin irritation.
Refrain from shaving, plucking, waxing the treated areas.
In order to see hair reduction and results in the areas it’s recommended to book your laser hair removal treatments every 4-6 weeks for at least 6-8 sessions.
